Velta Līne
Velta Līne (28 August 1923 – 31 December 2012) was a Soviet and Latvian actress, who worked in the Latvian National Theatre since 1945. She was married to actor and film director Gunārs Cilinskis in 1957 until his death in 1992. They had a son named Aigars, who was born 24 May 1958. Līne died on 31 December 2012 at the age of 89, due to illness. Velta Ruke-Dravina
Velta Ruke-Dravina (Velta Rūķe-Draviņa; 25 January 1917 – 7 May 2003) was a Latvian-born Swedish linguist and folklorist, as well as a professor in Baltic languages at Stockholm University. Ruke-Dravina's research interests included children's language, language contact, and dialectology. Her doctoral thesis was about diminutives in Latvian. She held the only professorship in Baltic languages outside the Baltics and had a leading role in developing the teaching program on the subject at Stockholm University. In 1980, she was elected as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. Biography Velta Tatjana Ruke was born on 25 January 1917 in Valmiera. Velta Skurstene (19 December 1930 – 12 November 2022) was a Latvian stage, radio, and film actress. Velta Toma
Velta Toma (31 January 1912 – 26 April 1999) was a Latvian poet and an honorary member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. She also used the pen name Velta Pavasara (literally Velta Spring). Biography Born in Nereta in the south of Latvia, Toma attended the local primary school and the secondary school in Jēkabpils before studying at the Zeltmata School of Latvian Drama. She started writing poetry while still at secondary school. Her first published poem ''Jūlija vakaros'' (July Evening) appeared in the newspaper ''Jaunākās ziņas'' in 1936 but her first collection ''Minējums'' (Guess) was not published until 1943. It covers the same themes as her later work: life and death, family roots, longing for love and a sense of local belonging. Toma's work is indeed closely associated with patriotism and later the sadness of exile. Rune Velta (; born 19 July 1989) is a Norwegian former ski jumper. Career On 25 February 2012, Velta finished second in the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund, behind winner Robert Kranjec. He made his World Cup debut in March 2010 in Oslo, where he finished 43rd. The week before he had recorded his best placements in the Continental Cup, with a sixth and a fifth place in the same city. He first finished among the top 30 in the World Cup with a 17th place from December 2010 in Lillehammer. This was followed by 10th place the next day. Velta was the only male ski jumper who won medals in all competitions at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015. He retired one year later after disputes with head coach Alexander Stöckl.
